An Interview with Elena: AnneeLondon Intern

September 12, 2017

Where are you from?

I am from Saint Petersburg. I will always love this city with my whole heart. I’ve been in the U.S. for almost 4 years now, where I first lived in Westchester, New York for 2 years, and now I live in Philly.

Where are you going to college?

I graduated from a Russian High School, then went to the International High School in Westchester, and right now I am a Junior in Temple University. I am an advertising major with a minor in public relations.

What are some of your interests?

I’ve been skiing since I was 6, so snow and mountains are a part of me. I get this inch under my skin every winter because I want to go and ski! I also can’t see my life without books. I’m such a book nerd…

What kind of biking do you do?

I was biking since my childhood in Russia, when my cousins and I got on our bicycles and were gone for the whole day. We explored, raced and rode without hands (which I am proud of). I love mountain biking because the cars, city and other people, do not disturb you. It’s just you and the nature.

Do you wear a helmet?

I’m going to lie if I say I used helmet. I never wore helmet when I was biking. Probably, I never saw the reason to wear one because I was biking on the forest trails. I am hesitant to bike in the city because of all the cars and unexpected pedestrians. The London helmet would be very useful to give me that extra confidence to be protected when I bike.

Why do you like biking?

Biking has always been something I did when I was little. It was just my bike and me. It was my freedom and independence. Bike also gave the way of transportation, which I was also proud of, because my parents usually gave me tasks to go to the store and pick up some groceries because it would be faster than by foot. It gave me responsibility I wanted as a child. Now bike is a good memory of my childhood, it is also way of activity.

What made you decide to join AnneeLondon?

I am interested in learning the beginnings of the company! It is always interesting to learn and gain experience as you go, but also AnneeLondon has a very strong mission, which I fully support. They are doing something amazing!
